Gilgen Door Systems has supplied and installed manual telescopic sliding doors
together with a moveable glass wall system as part of the western concourse development of King’s Cross Station, London.
Working with seele, Gilgen supplied two manual telescopic doors and a moveable wall system
all of which have been installed in the curved entrance façade of the amazing western concourse extension at the heart of the development. Each telescopic door is 13 meters wide and consists of 6 manual panels. The custom-made solutions
are mounted on curved track to ensure they fit exactly with the curve of the ground breaking new structure.
10.8mm laminated safety glass. The moveable glass wall consists of eight manual panels and also spans across 13meters. Both the moveable panels and door leaves stack inconspicuously when open and close with ease when required. The transformation of King’s Cross will see the development of 67 acres in central London. It consists of 8 million sq ft of mixed use space, dominated by the stunning Western Concourse which is Europe’s largest single span station structure. The vaulted ceiling rises to 20m and spans the full 150m length of the existing grade 1 listed Western Range building creating an impressive 7500sqm area.
The doors at King’s Cross are an excellent example of how Gilgen Door Systems can deliver bespoke products, internationally. The time line was very challenging, but our understanding of our customers’ requirements and flexibility ensured we were able to meet the schedule.
